A Summer Cottage at the coast near Amsterdam, Wijk aan Zee

Wijk aan Zee is a small coastal village in the municipality of Amsterdam in North Holland. In Wijk aan Zee you can choose a hotel, beach house or a summer cottage. A summer cottage is often in people’s backyards and offers an interesting solution for guests to spend the night on the coast at an affordable price. In Wijk aan Zee you can enjoy blokarting, surfing, sunbathing and good food in one of the many restaurants.

Our summer cottage consists of 2 floors with a kitchenette and a shower/toilet. The ground floor is 18m2 and the upper floor is 11m2. There is a four-burner gas stove, coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave/oven. The kitchen is equipped with plates, cutlery and kitchenware. Downstairs is a small sofa with LCD TV and a dining table with two chairs.

The whole year through

That means you are always welcome, whatever the time of year, spring, summer, autumn or winter. In the spring you can enjoy the diverse nature and the many birds in the dunes or on the beach. Summer calls for a dip in the sea, a nice bike ride through the area or a day trip to Alkmaar, Amsterdam or Haarlem. In autumn it is wonderful to walk through the colored forests and dunes. And the winter? Even then it is a good place to stay with us. Enjoy the white dunes when it has snowed and if there is enough frost you can ice skate almost anywhere further on in North Holland. After ice skating or your walk in the Dunes you can drink a hot cup of chocolate in our warm summer cottage.

Frequently Asked Questions

For how many people can I book the summer house?
Our summer cottage is best suited for 2 adults. Other amount of guests are possible, but given the size a personal choice. You can sleep in a double bed upstairs in the bedroom. A small cot for baby’s can be added on request.
Are pets allowed?
No pets are allowed.
Are you allowed to barbeque in the garden?
Due to the size of our summer house, at our outdoor terrace is not allowed to barbecue. You can find a good grill restaurant in the village.
Is smoking allowed?
Our summer cottage is a smoke free place. Smoking is not allowed in the summer cottage or around the summer cottage.
Is the house accessible for the disabled?

Our cottage is a compact little house with a single-bedroom upstairs that’s accessible only by a narrow steep stairway. We do not recommend our house for people with walking difficulties because of these stairs.

Our summer house / cottage is located 500 meters from the beach. It is a 5 minute walk to the beach entrance.

When the weather permits, you can sit comfortably on our outdoor spot.

In Wijk aan Zee on the Relweg there is free parking. There is also a large parking lot 100 meters from a street called dorpsduinen.

Our location and what can you do nearby?

Wijk aan Zee is located on the coast near Amsterdam in North Holland. You can walk or cycle in the dunes, swim in the sea, laze or blokart on the beach. Three major cities are half an hour away for a day trip. Check out the cheese market in Alkmaar or spend a day in Amsterdam. Haarlem is also a beautiful old city with a nice city center with many shops.
